NEW ARTIST FEATURE :: CONCEPT
[FROM CARTY YEAH]
ConCept, born in Washington, DC as Kevin Peacock, began his search at the tender age of 9. It turned out that his purpose was also his passion, music. Growing up during one of the most musically rich periods in history he listened to R&B, Hip Hop, Rap, Jazz and Pop. These generes and the influence of a loving mother helped ConCept's passion grow into a flame. The drive to explore his purpose grew greater as he tried to develop his own individual style. By age 13 he was able to put a name to his passion and it was the world of rap. He started experimenting with song writing and freestyle rapping. To enhance his knowledge, confidence and to gain experience ConCept battled and performed for family, friends and acquaintances. They all recognized that he had something special. His style came easily but creating a name was not so easy. What do you get when you combine confidence, creativity, crisp pronunciation and a versatile style? The same thing you get when you combine Jay-Z, Kanye, Ludacris and Busta Rhymes. You get a ConCept, an idea of something formed by mentally combining all its characteristics or particulars. ConCept knew that the key to his success would be the ability to produce his own beats and rhymes. His signature style puts the listener in the middle of a mental movie soundtrack. Being exposed to mixed-tapes and beats were the factors that turned the passionate fire into a roaring flame. He knew without a doubt that he was on the right path. In 2001, ConCept collaborated with long-time friend, Carty-Yeah, to form the group C & C. Their versatile styles worked well together. They were booked for various live performances and photo shoots. They participated in rap battles in clubs and on the radio and even did a television commercial. Now, confident, knowledgeable, well rehearsed and versed ConCept steps onto the world’s stage as a solo act. His ability to flow with the smoothness of whipped butter and then switch to a rapid-fire that fires off like an automatic weapon is exciting and entertaining. The biggest surprise is that he is a wordsmith with an extensive vocabulary. Two songs that are perfect representations of his ability are “Bring Me Down” and the club-banger, “Clear the Lane”. Look-out world!! ConCept is in the building!!!
