MANNN TOP 5 IN THE DMV ARE...???

FAREEL FAREEL IN MY HEART I THINK IVE BEEN WANTIN TO DO THIS FOR AWHILE. LIKE IDK BUT MUSIC IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME, ESPECIALLY HIP HOP, SO I WANTED TO KIND OF GET A PERSPECTIVE OF WHAT PEOPLE THOUGHT ABOUT THE RAPPERS IN OUR AREA. I MEAN WE HAVE SOME PEOPLE WITH "TALENT"..., THEN WE HAVE SOME PEOPLE THAT ARE JUST "UGGGHHH" TO ME. BUT THROUGH IT ALL OUR AREA IS MAKING MUSIC. SO WITH THAT SAID MY TOP 5 IN THE D.M.V WOULD HAVE TO GO TO [NO ORDER]:

1. TABI BONNEY- HE'S DIFFERENT, AND THATS WHAT HIPHOP IS ABOUT. LIKE THE WAY HE FLOWS ON HIS BEATS ARE SOO SMOOTH. LIKE I DONT WANT TO KEEP REITERATING THAT HE'S DIFFERENT, BUT HE IS! [LOL] IT'S COOL AND FLY!

2. X.O.- MAN I AINT THINK HE WAS GOOD FAREEL, UNTIL I HERD A COUPLE SONGS FROM HIM ON REALMANGOJUICE.COM. THEN I WAS LIKE HMMM HES NICE. [THANKS TO MAJOR!]

3. MARKY- EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS I WASNT CONVINCED THAT THIS KID WAS GOOD JUST BECAUSE OF THE WHOLE RANDUM BEEF SO I NEVER REALLY LISTENED TO HIM. BUT THEN MY MAN LEMME LISTEN TO HW 4.3. AND HE WAS ACTUALLY PRETTY GOOD, TO MY SUPRISE.

4. WALE [I KNO OF COURSE RIGHT? LOL]- BUT YEA YALL ALREADY DUE TO THE SUCCESS OF ALL FOUR OF HIS MAJOR MIXTAPES WHETHER IT BE WITH STUDIO 43 OR HIM BEING SIGNED WITH INTERSCOPE, HE HAS CHANGED THE WHOLE VISION OF ARTIST FROM OUR AREA. NOW PEOPLE ARE THINKING "MAN IF WALE CAN MAKE IT SO CAN I!" OR THEIR THINKIN "MAN IM BETTER THAN WALE, SO I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT". WHETHER YOUR A SUPPORTER OR DISLIKER, WALE HAS BEEN INFLUENTIAL TO THE PEOPLE OF OUR AREA. SUBSTANCE + LYRICS + ARTISTIC INTEGRITY = TALENTED ASS INDIVIDUAL, AND I AINT GON LIE I THINK THATS WHAT WALE IS.

5. IDDDDKKKKK????? LIKE I CANT EVEN CALL IT. I WISH I COULD...
WHO DO YOU THINK IS TOP 5 MATERIAL FOR THIS LIST?? OR SHOULD SOMEBODY BE REPLACED????

I can't argue with your list Vic... I know everybody on here personally and I like their music... I think you should check out AP(www.myspace.com/ap202)... You may have only a heard a little of hime, as he spends a lot more time in the studio and not enough time blogging and putting out his music on the net... Anyway he's definitely a force... Goadometalk keep doing yall thing.... SHOUTS TO MAJOR my lil' bro!

MY TOP 5 [IN ORDER]
1. X.O. :: HE PAINTS A PICTURE OF THE CITY IN EVERY TRACK.

2. WALE :: "A MIXTAPE ABOUT NOTHING," NUFF SAID...

3. A.P. :: FOR SAME REASON DRE MENTIONED ABOVE ME, DUDE ISNT USING THE SAME TECHNIQUES AS EVERYONE ELSE; BLOGSPOT, FACEBOOK NOTES ETC. IM NOT KNOCKING NOBODY, BUT AS AN ARTIST YOU MUST FIND SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU...YOU AND WONT GET LOST IN THE CROWD!

4. MARKY :: HATE IS THE NEW LOVE

5. RATHEMC/TABI :: DIFFERENT

I def agree wit your list, all 4 you named are siiiick in their own ways, showing a major variety in DMV artists. but for a number 5... i would have to say Chris Barz, he had an EP come out a few months ago "Do You Know Him?" he had totally unique beats that most artists would use. His lyrical abilities are out of this world! i would def consider him one of the best up incoming artists.

CHRIS BARZ IS A TALENT, HE PROLLY MADE THOSE BEATS TOO LOL.

Wale
Ice The Villain
Tabi Bonney
AP
.........fifth is lost. No one has that umph. That magnetic force that draws you in. AP's hook game is off the fucking chain. Tabi is too cool and went to school.....Ice is...hmmmm lemme see can do everything! Any topic he murders, CLub tracks, deep tracks, PURE SPIT TRACKS...He's damn near number one in my book. Wale of course because he put everyone on. And that's from the bottom up...read um and weap.

I'd have to throw the homie Carty-Yeah on there for the 5th spot, in my mind. He's one of the most lyrically versatile artists in the area, but he's really underappreciated due to him not really being an internet dude like that. Yet he's killed every radio battle tournament in the area, rubs elbows with industry-respected MCs, and still has over 10,000 fans on MySpace, without even being an internet type dude. He's what i'd call highly respected, highly neglected lol

I'm gonna do a top 10

1. Kenn Starr - if you don't know about Kenn Starr, cop his last LP...Classic!

2. X.O. - Believe the hype, dude's Ill

3. Syxx - He would be 1st on my list, but my man needs to put more projects...we have a classic in the making

4. Kingpin Slim - get well fam, he should be on your lists!

5. A.P. - He's sick, capable of putting out a classic. Can't wait to hear the mixtape and album.

6. Southeast Slim - he's got a lot of dope shit/Wale - One of the projects I'm anticipating...he has a lot of great songs too

7. Marky - We'll I'm looking at the list and I think Marky could just as well be in the top 5...it's a very close call

8. Ra the MC/Tabi - Out of all the people here they do the most innovative stuff.

9. G.Two/Nando McFly - On the come up...they're gonna be contenders for top 5 soon.

10. K-Beta - haven't heard much from him...but he's dope

there's a bunch of people I might be forgetting or haven't heard from yet...but I like my list

Mr. 40. Watt November 14, 2008 at 1:54 PM

Ok ok I tried but I just couldn't get the number that low sorry...

De-U.c.e. Double's top 10:

1. WALE - His wordplay & buzz is too signature to him to even be explained or compared to many others in DC or the rap game period. He started off as just a local GoGo band rapper & now he's "XXL" need I say more...lol!!!

2. Tabbi Bonney - Who else U know from DC dat's figured out a way 2 get their videos on MTV, BET, & VH1, get their music on da radio, & in major stores, & get their face & clothing line in Billboard, & The Source without a major label behind em'? His grind is impeccable yet his music is also truely one of a kind.

3. RAtheMC - She's better than most females in the game worldwide plus she's got Judah backing her & a sick internet buzz.

4. X.O. - He just plain goes!!! Dis nigga puts in a 150% effort into keeping his lyrics real & true 2 Hip-Hop's roots. It doesn't hurt dat WALE & Judah both Co-sign this dude either plus I'm yet 2 see anyone hit U street's open mic as often as dude...

5. Gerredi - He's the city's best self promoting "Gangsta Rapper" in my opinion. Nobody else in DC has managed to get Scarface, Devin, WALE, & Tabbi Bonney all on their album. He's got the blessing from DJ Flexx as well.

6. Oy Boyz - They've been doing their part to tell the untold rap story of the thug & drug life side of DC through Hip-Hop 4 a while now. They've done music with the likes of Paul Wall & DJ Kahlid.

7. TNT - These dudes been rapping top notch g shit over top quality beats 4 a while pimp. Most of ya'll probably didn't even know they colabed with Bun-B way before WALE did. Most of ya'll probably don't know Studio 43 got a deal as a whole label either...not just 4 Marky. You rarely ever hear wack lyrics or a wack beat on a TNT song...check their resume!!!

8. Marky - I've been hearing bout dis nigga since he was like 11 years old...lol!!! Not too many 19 year olds in the rap game right now truely have their own identity, own vision, or can do what he can lyrically over any beat like he's proved he can on several old & new mixtapes.

9. Whitefolkz - Da beats he makes, his stage pressence, & flow are all yelling & screaming the sound & swagg dat's popular in da industry right now!!! Probably one of the easiest rappers in DC to market to the masses nationwide...& not just cause he's white either. He's alot more versitile lyrically than most people relize of the break.

10. E One Letter - Dude grinds hard & never takes no 4 an answer!!! He's sold 1000's of CD's with his face on em' before you even knew him. E makes songs in a matter of minutes bout damn near every aspect of his life whether it be written or freestyled. E's da only DC emcee's who's 1st released solo song made it to radio, to a Gangsta Grillz joint, & then to a video directed & produced by himself...hell of a start huh.

Honorable mention:

Kingpin Slim, AP, Don Juan, Carty-Yeah, Muggsy Malone, Priest Da Nomad, G2, TrueBless, Kenn Starr, Lyriciss, De-U.c.e. Double, Moola Fedi, & MLG

ICE is one of the illest niggas i've ever heard!!!! But enough about this who's the hottest in the DMV... Because we all need to be focused on making the DMV one of the top 5 places for the hottest MCs!!!! CHHUUUUCHH!!

Vic Rain November 14, 2008 at 4:43 PM

Wooow I aint know all this was gonna come out this one post but thats kool!
but yea mannnn i definetly forgot about my man Chris Barz! Like wow my man is nasty. Ive been knowin him for a couple of years now, sooo i dont know how da fcuk i forgot to put my man on. But yea i still wit my list, but i really need to listen to AP more and Ice the villian because i never heard their projects.

Mouse aka The Waldorf Posterboy November 14, 2008 at 5:17 PM

*Jaw drops*.....Trust me...you will re-arrange your list when you do lol.

Ice the Villain November 14, 2008 at 8:05 PM

Mouse... Dre, thanks for the love. Much appreciated!

Seeing as though I'm not as known as some of the artists mentioned, y'all may not care for my opinion, but...
DMV TOP 5 (In No Order):

Wale (No need to plug, lol) - Created something out of nothing so we could even be recognized as a serious place to find quality Hip-Hop artists.

Mouse (myspace.com/igrewup) - I've never heard anyone of his kind! His creativity with concepts, grind, and even the way he markets himself with his imagery on his page (because presentation is everything), sets him apart from anyone... period. The passion you hear in his delivery is reminiscent of Joe Budden, my personal favorite (but that's another Top 5, lol). He'd be a problem in the game with the right machine behind him, he's already killin' the scene on his own.

AP (myspace.com/ap202) - Very creative and focused artist/studio-rat. Grinds like no one, most prolific artist i've heard in the DMV. Learn it!

Chainz (myspace.com/cdoth) - Another cat that isn't on the internet or blogs too heavy but he's truly a problem. Many cats do the punchlines, but I haven't heard any lines as "left-field" as his but as effective. Doesn't follow any trends and is in a lane of his own as far as DMV Hip-Hop goes. Good thing he's on my team, I don't have to compete w/ him!

Ice the Villain (myspace.com/ice935 & Icethevilain.blogspot.com) - Not to toot my own horn, I just think I'm pretty nice... lol

That's MY opinion. Thanks for your time!

L.@.Me!

Vic Rain November 14, 2008 at 9:20 PM

Naw I mean I may add somebody...but i aint gonna take nobody out if thats what yall think!

Goadometalk.com November 15, 2008 at 4:50 AM

FCUK THE INTERNET THOUGH, THERE HAS GOT TO BE ANOTHER WAY...

YOU SHOULDN'T NEED A BLOG & MYSPACE TO GET NOTICED. ARTIST DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT PLEASE!!! THAT SHIT IS PASTG CLICHE MAN, AND THE BAMMAS WHO REALLY RELY ON THE INTERNET TO GET PUT ON SHOULD BE SLAPPED.

WHAT THE FCUK IS YOU GOING DO WHEN MOMS DONT PAY THAT VERIZON BILL?

QUIT, HUH?

Mouse aka The Waldorf Posterboy November 15, 2008 at 9:36 AM

lol that's funny....Internet is ruling the world right now....everybody on the xxl freshmen top 10 has been successful mostly through internet lol. Yea niggas can do other things and be creative your right, but it's never fuck the internet......It's like walking down the street seeing a 100 dollar bill on the ground and you saying....naaaa i got a 100 in my pocket already im good. lol....Got snatch it all up son real talk.

Goadometalk.com November 15, 2008 at 6:16 PM

OK I RESPECT THAT, BUT ANSWER THE QUESTION. IF THERE WAS NO INTERNET WHAT WOULD YOU DO?...HALF OF YALL WOULDNT BE ARTIST AND I KNOW THAT FOR A FACT.

AND ONCE AGAIN, IM NOT DOWNING THE INTERNET, JUST PROPOSING THAT YALL BROTHERS HAVE TO DO SOMETHING TO STAND OUT AMONGST THE REST, AND BLOGS, MYSPACE HITS ETC. AINT GOING DO IT NO MORE! NEXT PHASE, PLEASE!

Mouse aka The Waldorf Posterboy November 16, 2008 at 2:17 AM

Nigga....not all artists do shit for the cam or the internet. If the internet didn't exist i would still be banging out tracks, bring my cd player to work, the mall, or wherever like i use to do and ask people to listen. I can't speak for every artist, but point blank i enjoy making music for myself. You can ask uneek or b.p. I have tons of music no one has heard...and i'm pretty damn satisfied how everything is now...does that NOT make me an artist....no.....an artist is an artist son. Wether they are being meat sucked by bloggers, stalked by tmz cameras, or just in the lab putting in work....an artist does it for the love and satisfaction of the art and the thrill of affecting others, and for you to say they wouldn't exist without the internet is blah....I'm a socialble dude, and the topic of me doing music always comes up in a convo, I'm pretty sure i could exist without the internet, but these boo boo ass no personality having ass niggas who think swag is everything and rap monotone would be dinosaurs kid....fucking extinct.

MAJOR November 16, 2008 at 2:59 AM

AND THATS WHY I SAID "HALF OF YALL," NEVER ONCE DID I SAY EVERYONE. I KNOW SOME, EVEN YOU DO IT FOR THE LOVE/YOURSELF. B.P. HAS TOLD ME THAT ON MANY OCCASIONS...WHOLETIME I WAS SPEAKIN TO THOSE WHO KNOW THEY WOULDNT FCUK WITH MUSIC UNLESS THEIR WAS INTERNET.

Mouse aka The Waldorf Posterboy November 16, 2008 at 11:03 AM

yea well with...just....blah...fuck them niggas lol
